Case Study

Communicating Strategically with Key Stakeholders

In December of 2019, the CEO of a large regional mid-Atlantic health system was concluding her first year in role and sought a strategic partner to assess and elevate the organization’s communications capabilities. With the onset of a global pandemic in March 2020 and changes in Communications leadership, the health system sought significant additional strategic communications guidance and support.

Our Approach:

We conducted an in-depth strategic review of communications practices, (including on-site interviews of frontline employees and leaders), developed the organization’s first CEO positioning plan, mentored Communications team members and recommended staffing and process changes. We also provide significant project management, strategic thought leadership counsel, and research and writing to support CEO communications.

Outcome:

Despite unprecedented demands throughout the pandemic, the cadence and quality of CEO communications to health system employees have considerably improved, ensuring greater awareness of and alignment with key strategic priorities. The CEO is now well-positioned to increase her communications with external stakeholders on matters of strategic importance.
